Textron (Santa Clarita, California), an operating unit of Textron Systems, provides
actuation and fuel components for the Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey. Textron Systems

twenty-six components on the V-22 aircraft supplying both Bell and Boeing directly
as well as through Triumph Gear Systems. Key components include the primary and
back-up Hydraulic Power Drive Units (HPDUs) that provide the power to rotate the
engine nacelles between helicopter and airplane flight modes as well as the Rotor
Positioning Unit (RPU) that positions the rotor blades to their properly indexed
position location?? position for fold and storage onboard an aircraft carrier.
HR Textron also provides seventeen fuel valves for the
V-22. Some monitor the amount of fuel in the multiple fuel tanks while others
transfer fuel among the various tanks. HR Textron fuel valves also manage the
refuel and defuel process for the aircraft. A recent addition to the V-22 aircraft
is HR Textron's Fuel Probe Control Valve used to control the telescoping / retractable
fuel probe. This control valve allows the aircraft to be easily stowed without
first having to remove the V-22'sprior nine-foot long fixed probe. About
