- HR Textron, an operating unit of Textron Systems, a Textron
Inc. (NYSE:TXT) company, announced today, it has been awarded
a $3.5M contract from Lockheed Martin for the development
and production of aileron actuators for the Navy variant of
the F-35 Lightning II, also known as the Joint Strike Fighter.
The F-35 will be the Navy's newest high performance aircraft
and its first stealth fighter.
The Ailerons provide roll control and additional
aircraft lift necessary for carrier landings. These components
consist of the hydraulic actuator, electro-hydraulic servo
valve, manifold, and controller in an integrated package.
First hardware deliveries are scheduled for fourth quarter
of 2007.

the technical solution for Lockheed Martin. HR Textron has
a long-standing history in developing critical-to-flight actuation
